Itinerary
"MEXICO'S GRAND CANYON"
The Chihuahua pacific railroad is really the only way to see one of Mexico's most inspiring tourist attractions: the stunning rock formations of the Copper Canyon begin to come into sight. The journey will usually take a minimum of eight hours, cutting through tunnels and crossing several bridges which have opened a window to nature's wonders for many thousand of visitors, both from Mexico and aboard. In Copper Canyon your eyes take in the unbelievable sweep of craggy peaks and the lovely pine groves whose caves are still inhabited by local indians, as well as beautiful lakes, streams, and waterfalls, this example of nature's bounty covers around 60,000 square kilometers and contains summits rising some 12,000 feet and ravines over a mile in depth. The Copper Canyon also encompasses a few communities whose golden age occurred during the last century-mining settlements which became ghost towns. This part of Chihuahua, Mexico's largest state, is home of the truly legendary indigenous cultures named the Tarahuamaras.
